SUMMER TEMPERATURES THIS WEEK - DRINK PLENTY OF WATER TO AVOID DEHYDRATION!

This week is going to feel like summer compared to the last two weeks with temperatures in the high 70's and low 80's.  Therefore, to avoid problems drink plenty of water this week.  Don't pass the water fountain without taking a drink or two.  Remember, dehydration occurs when the loss of body fluids, mostly water, exceeds the amount of water that is taken in to replace the loss.  Athletes lose water during practice and meets in the form of water vapor in the breath they exhale, sweat and when they go to the restroom. 4/27/2012 Results / Pictures

Franklin, OH - Several outstanding performances were had by our Eaton tracksters on Friday.  Michelle McKinney was a triple winner once again but with a different twist.  Michelle won the 100, 1600 & 800 events and in the process set a new meet record in the 1600.  This is the 5th time Michelle has broken meet records this year, great job Michelle!  Taylor Broermann ran the 3200 meter run for the first time and had an outstanding race.   After the race Taylor said, " I could have ran faster!"  Lydia Smith ran a stong 400 M race to finish 2nd and Taylor Bowman keeps finishing high in the pole vault meet after meet with a 2nd place finish.  Caitlin Highley continued her top three placing with a 3rd in the discus.  The womens 4x400 relay team ran their fastest time of the year and finished a close second behind Middletown Fenwick.  Great job ladies!

On the mens side, Nathan Clark, Rob Pieper, Zavier Spears and Austin Baker, Tim Rae, Alan Sarver lead the team.   Nathan Clark won the 800 M and is on the verge of breaking the 2:00 barrier, the 4x200 M & 4x400 M relays keep winning, Tim Rae keeps flirting with the 6' mark in the high jump, and Alan Sarver won his first pole vault competition of the year by clearing 12' 6."   The mens pole vaulters have done an excellent job of competing this year and they keep placing two in the top four at every meet!  Great job guys!

However, as usual, the most exciting, interesting and crowd pleasing races of the evening were the "iron men and women" relays.  Athletes and coaches from all schools lined the track to cheer on their teams and the competition didn't dissapoint anyone!  The womens team of Hood, Mitchell, Rhodus and Schmidt finished 1st leading the race from beginning to end!  The men's team didn't fair so well, dropping the baton on the second hand off but they finished strong to claim 4th place.  What a great way to cap off an evening full of outstanding performances from the beginning to the very end of the meet!   Great job to all!

LAYERING IS THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH COLD WEATHER!

The weather is getting back to normal spring temperatures for the start of the week!  So, be prepared and make sure you wear adequate clothing for the cooler weather workouts and the best way to do that is by layering.  Layering is the wearing of two or three layers of clothing over the other, like sweatpants over running tights.  Loose light layers that can be easily removed as you warm up and are the best way to ensure you get the most out of your workout, stay warm and injury free.
