Lady Eagles Win District Championship!

St. Paris, OH - Congratulations to the Lady Eagles for winning the OHSAA District Championships by outscored runner-up Springfield Northeastern 97-92 to take the team title. This was the lady eagles first District Team Championship since 2001.
Thursday's prelims went well for the lady eagles resulting in numerous runners advancing on to Saturday's finals and leaving the eagles setting in 3rd place in the team standings only a few points behind Brookville and Northeastern.
As Saturday's meet progressed the lady eagles started placing well, adding up the points and after a 1st and 3rd place finish in the 3200 and 1st place in the discus took the lead in the team standings. By the time the 4x400 relay got on the track the eagles had a four point lead and added to the total with a 4th place, come from behind finish over Springfield Northeastern which added a giant exclamation point to the successful day.
The lady eagles were lead by Michelle McKinney's 1600m & 800m title wins, Caitlin Highley's Discus title, Taylor Broermann's 3200 m title (New School Record) and several other lady eagles high place finishes. Great job lady Eagles.
On the men's side the eagles also had a very successful day with a 3rd place finish behind team Champion Versailles and runner-up Springfield Shawnee. Just like the lady's, the men's team did an excellent job of qualifying several athletes out of Thursday's prelims and then placing well in Saturday's finals.
The men were lead by Alan Sarver's pole vault title and several other men's high place finishes. Great job men.
The Eaton coaching staff is very proud of how the men and women's team performed all weekend with many individuals and relay teams setting seasonal best and moving on to the OHSAA Regionals. The OHSAA Regionals which will be held this Thursday (prelims) & Saturday (finals) @ University of Dayton Welcome Stadium - Dayton, OH.
